Day One
Timpani Fundamentals Boot Camp
We will cover the basics of stroke types, sound production, historical implications, rolls, mallet selection, articulations, pedaling, and much more!
Solo Timpani Repertoire
We will cover some of the most popular and requested solo timpani repertoire, including those works by Carter, Beck, Cahn, and Kraft. Dr. Loomer will also discuss the works and composers from her Melodic Timpani Project.
Playing Timpani in DCI
Dr. Loomer will present a clinic on her experience as timpanist with the Boston Crusaders and some tips for timpanists interested in auditioning and performing with top DCI corps!
Day Two
Orchestral Repertoire - Baroque to the 21st Century
Join us as we discuss the interpretation of the most requested timpani repertoire spanning nearly 3 centuries! Also covered will be audition preparation and peak performance strategies.
Mallet Making and Creating a Business in the Percussion Industry
Jason Ginter (owner and founder, JG Percussion and Ginter Timpani) will discuss his approach to making timpani mallets and his experiences creating and running a successful percussion business. If you are a budding entrepreneur, you won't want to miss this!
