Who is Two Rivers Timpani Summit (TRTS) for?
TRTS is for students and educators who want an immersive, in-depth experience with timpani. We will cover all of basics--stoke types, ear training, articulations, rolls, pedaling, and more! We will also talk about maintaining the instruments--replacing heads, clearing, and mallet wrapping. Finally, we will discuss timpani repertoire--orchestral, wind ensemble, and solo. Attendees will work closely with TRTS faculty through a series of clinics, hands-on workshops, and performances.
How old do I need to be to attend?
Participants must be 18 or older to attend TRTS.
What does my enrollment fee include?
Your fee includes participation in all clinics and workshops, materials, a TRTS t-shirt, a welcome dinner (Sunday), a beach picnic (Monday), continental breakfast, and a trip to Lake Michigan (weather permitting).
Where can I stay?
There are numerous housing options! On campus housing will be available. If you would prefer, several hotel and AirBnB options are available near campus.
Where can I eat?
There are on-campus option within a short walking distance. There are other numerous restaurants and fast food options a short drive from campus.
Where can I park?
Free street parking is available. You may also park in the UM garage for $15/day.
What's there to do in Memphis?
There's lots to do in Memphis! Graceland, Beale Street, Sun Records, Stax Museum, etc. There are also several parks, including Overton Park/Memphis Zoo and Shelby Farms Park
